The Host (Stephenie Meyer)

I am now reading The Host, by Stephenie Meyer. It's OK, certainly not my most favorite book. Stephenie's writing is starting to tire me, because everything sounds the same....

Anyway, The Host is about a girl who has her soul put into another person's body. I don't really understand the concept of that, so I basically skipped that chapter. But In her new body, Wanderer happens to realize that the body doesn't want her in it. She starts to see the original person (Melanie's) thoughts, and they both end up loving the same man.

I'm still SUPER confused. I don't really understand this book at all, but I'm hoping I'll understand more as I read on.

As of right now, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. It's so hard to read. But I will still read it, and keep you posted!

Graceling (Kristin Cashore) II

I finished the book (OK, a while ago, but I forgot to post, sorry...)

Anyway, this book was amazing! :D It got so much better towards the middle of the book.

Katsa becomes involved with a sinister plot, and she desperately tries to save all of the people in the seven kingdoms of her country. Along the way, she falls in love! :D

I don't do a very good job of describing this book, so you have to take my word that it's amazing. :) I seriously think you should read this!

OK, that's all I have time for now... I'll write when I start a new book! :D

Graceling (Kristin Cashore)

Woo! I found a new book! :D It's called Graceling, and it's written my Kristin Cashore.

I don't really know much about the book yet, because I just started it. But I do know is that it is about a girl named Katsa, who was born with an "extreme skill", called a Grace. All people with a Grace are marked with two different colored eyes. Katsa's Grace is being able to kill with a single blow. She learns to control her skill and tries not to kill many people, just wound them (serverely). Everyone is afraid of her, and she really doesn't mind too much, because she doesn't want friends.

Yeah, I love this book! I don't exactly know what's going on, but I'm sure to catch up soon.

I promise that I will blog about this book again when I finish, and... oh!

I almost forgot! My poll closed. There was a tie! Here was the the question:

Which is your favorite series from this list?
Twilight
Harry Potter
Cirque Du Freak
The Chronicles of Narnia
Inkheart Trilogy
Inheritance Circle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisinger...)
Other

Twilight and the Chronicles of Narnia were tied, with 50% each. I only got two votes.

SO MORE PEOPLE NEED TO VOTE ON THE NEXT POLL PLEASE!!!!!!! :D Thank you! :D

OK, that's all for today. Bye!

Added Extras and Inkdeath

OK, this book is Inkdeath, written by Cornelia Funke (I wish Blogger could underline, because I have to italicize). Inkdeath is the last book of the Inkheart Trilogy, of which i am a huge fan of! The three books are Inkheart, Inkspell, and Inkdeath.

In this book, a young woman named Meggie goes on a "quest" (if you want to call it that) to save the Inkworld from total disaster. I don't know how much to say about the series, because i don't want to give anything away.

But I will tell you that some very surprising and suspensful things happen, not the least of which is Meggie may meet Death at any time. There is also a book that can hold Death in its binding.

I don't know if you think that sounds cheesy, but I'm not doing a very good job at explaining. This book is so amazing, I really think you'd love it.

I haven't finished it yet, and I can't wait to find out what happens!

As for the added extras, I have put both a poll and a quote on the sidebar.

The quote will be changed every week, and if you have a quote that you think I should post, please leave in in a comment.

So... I guess that's all I really need to say right now... :D

If I forget to write tomorrow: Happy Memorial Day!

Banned Books

OK, I got a question in a comment about banned books from Elizabeth J.:

...I always thought the whole "banned" book thing was kind of odd. Do you know why the books are "banned"? Maybe you could do a post about it because I would love to know more about it.

Well Elizabeth, I'm going to do just that. I'm doing a research paper on banned books, and I'm finding out a whole lot of interesting information.

But sadly, i can't write right now because i have to go paint window boxes. But I promise I will do it later. I promise!

Banned Books and Other Great Reads

OK, in the past few days I've been reading A LOT. Quite a few of the books I've been reading are banned, which means that they are not allowed to be in some libraries. I'm just going to tell a little about each book, so you can see what they're about. Under the author's name, I'm going to add a link so you can see the cover of the book, because sadly this site will only let me put in one picture . Anyway, here we go!

A Wrinkle In Time*
Madeleine L'Engle
http://blogs.timesunion.com/books/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/wrinkleint_1.jpg

This is about a girl named Meg who goes on a quest to save the world from the Dark Thing, and to find her father. She must outsmart IT, and keep peace in the universe. I kind of thought this book was boring, but you should definitely try reading it for yourself.

Bridge to Terabithia
*
Katherine Paterson
https://tplcsomething.wikispaces.com/file/view/bridge-to-terabithia.jpg

Bridge to Terabithia
is a story about a boy named Jess, who gets a new neighbor. His neighbor, Leslie, is the oddball of their school. Jess and Leslie become friends, and they make up their own world that they name Terabithia. Then something horrible happens, but you have to read the book to find out what it is! This book was amazing, and it's one of my favorite books ever. It's actually been made into a movie too.

Princess Ben
Catherine Gilbert Murdock
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_s5VfLP5ZiZc/SMbLJfU35_I/AAAAAAAADtU/6rqlBXJGMMw/s320/Princess+Ben.jpg

Princess Ben
is a story about a girl who is taken from her village and must go live in the palace, and learn to be a proper princess. When she is sentenced to the tallest tower of the castle, she learns a secret that will change her life forever. This was AWESOME! I thought it was very itreguing, and didn't want to put it down. I would recommend this to anyone!

Olive's Ocean
*
Kevin Henkes
http://www.whitingham.k12.vt.us/library/imgs/olive.jpg

Olive's Ocean
is about a 12 year old girl who receives a note from the mother of a classmate of hers who passed away. The girl who died was named Olive. Throughout the book, Martha (the main character) thinks about Olive a lot. It affects her decisions though the story. There is also a little romance, so if you like mildly romantic books, this is the book for you!

To Kill A Mockingbird
*
Harper Lee
http://liabelle.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/harper-lee.jpg

To Kill A Mockingbird
is a very racial story, built around prejudice of African-Americans in the south. I really like this book, because it brings about some very unusual topics that may not be covered in some schools. There is some violence in this book, but it's not too bad. I would definitely recommend this book to people!

The Awakening
Kelley Armstrong
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51NI5%2BDvr6L._SL500_.jpg

The Awakening is the sequel to another book I read, called The Summoning. These books are about a girl who can raise people from the dead, and she's trying to escape from being used as an experiment in a lab. A few people want to kill her too. She must escape these people with only the help of a short-tempered witch, a cute wizard, and a messed-up werewolf. THIS BOOK WAS AWESOMELY AMAZING! I REALLY think you should read it! There is mild violence, so this isn't for younger kids.

*All the books with this symbol have been banned in various libraries. Bridge to Terabithia was banned due to offensive language. Olive's Ocean was banned because of offensive language, as well as inappropriate topics. To Kill a Mockingbird was banned because of offensive language and the way it dealt with racial issues. I don't know why A Wrinkle In Time was banned.
